Q: How can I choose & register my website's domain name?

A: Your domain name is the web address of your website. (EG. www.mynorwexsite. com). It is the address you use on business cards, in advertisements, etc. It is the address that people will type in to get to your website. information is on the "How to Buy" page of this website. You must have your domain name before you purchase your Green Cleaning website.

Q: Can you register my domain name on my behalf so I don't have to do it myself?

A: No. Your domain name will be one of your most important business assets. and you need to register it yourself inside your own domain name account so that you control it. We like GoDaddy.

Q: Where is my website hosted?

A: For a competitive monthly fee, we provide hostgator web hosting for your website (hosting is a website's online "rental home"). Our Green Servers are 130% wind powered. Through the purchase of certified Renewable Energy Credits representing 130% of the electricity used to both power and cool our server, we're not just neutralizing our environmental impact: we're reversing it!

Q: Can I have my website hosted elsewhere?

A: We are sorry, but no. We are able to keep our website purchase price low because we house all of our client sites in a central place where they are quickly and easily accessible to us.

Q: What are tips on choosing a good domain name?

  • Norwex Policy on domain names is VERY specific, and must be adhered to.  If you want the word "Norwex" in your domain name, then your first and/or last name MUST come BEFORE the word Norwex.  For example, www.janesnorwex.com is allowed, but www.norwexwithjane.com is not.   You can choose any domain name that doesn't have the word Norwex in it, for example, www.healthyhomecleaning.com is allowed.

  • Norwex does not allow the use of proper names of cities, provinces/states, countries or geographical areas in your domain name: eg. - www.norwexdauphin.ca or www.norwexmanitoba.ca or www.norwexunitedstates.com or www.norwexautralia.com.au may NOT be used. NOTE: Norwex monitors domain names and if you register a placename, they will require you to change it.

  • Make it short (2-3 words), easy to remember, descriptive, and memorable (try using alliteration or rhyming to help people remember your URL). 

  • Make it spellable - don't choose words than can be spelled in several different ways or use a clever play on words if it means that searchers won't know how to spell it

  • Always take a .com over any other extension (.net, .biz, .us, etc). Searchers automatically default to .com.  Use a country specific domain extension (.ca, .au, etc) if you are targeting a specific geographical region.

  • Do NOT get Private Registration! It will cause you problems with ownership if you do, and will complicate the SSL Certificate issue process!

  • Do not purchase anything else when you buy your domain name - just get the domain name and get out.

  • You do not need other extensions (for example, purchasing yourdomain.com, yourdomain.net, etc). Just get one domain name. The only time you need two is if you are going to have two websites.
